A J Poyiadgi makes films by day and comics by night. He likes the collaborative nature of one and the solitary demands of the other.
His comic Teapot Therapy was shortlisted for the Observer/Jonathan Cape/Comica Graphic Short Story Prize and was coloured with genuine English Breakfast tea. He has contributed to the anthologies ink+PAPER and Wu Wei.
He has directed commercials and trailers for Heinz, Ford, The Guardian, BBC, BAFTA and The Sopranos. His short film Schizofredric won awards at the Garden State Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Seattle Sci-Fi Film Festival and Sci-Fi London Film Festival.
He currently produces a strip for Shots magazine, taking an irreverent look at life in the world of advertising and film. His latest project is Teabag Theories, a micro-comic-in-a-teabag that uses the humble brew to unravel the mysteries of science.
