It’s been an exciting week for Tiny Pencil as we’ve seen gorgeous proofs from our printer and the anthology is being beautifully litho-printed as we speak! Issue one grew to a massive 64 pages as there was just so much awesomeness to squeeze in! Now that it’s all off to the presses we’re super excited to finally show off the stunning front cover illustration by Showchicken (aka Nick Sheehy) above. Nick says the illustration made his hand hurt, but I’m sure you’ll agree the end result was worth it and pretty spectacular! Makes you want to go wandering alone in the woods at night, eh?
We asked artists to respond to the theme of “forest” and were just blown away by all the amazing art that came in. We’ve got two painterly pencil spreads from Yoko Tanaka, woodland wizardry from Jack Teagle, full-page drawing spread + comic from Luke Pearson, graphite guru antler love from Stuart Whitton, and much, much more. 27 artists in total contributed to make this whopping 64-page artzine happen!
Here are a few stunning snippets of things to come:
Jamie Mills.
Yoko Tanaka.
Alexandra Higlett.
There is literally so much amazing art in this issue we want to share, but we have to stop somewhere. If you want to see the rest you’ll just have to order a copy here! Or come join us for the London launch at Gosh! Comics on 27th April, 7-9pm. Cover artists Nick Sheehy and Kristyna Baczynski will be drawing LIVE, alongside amazing pencillers Jamie Mills, Vanessa Foley, John D. Kilburn and Stuart Whitton. Stuart will also be very generously giving away his live drawing to one really lucky person at the end of the evening! So put that date in your diaries, come on down and get yourself a copy of the awesomeness that is TINY PENCIL!
Also there are still three prize-packs to be won of illustrated goodies by our contributors… pre-order issue 1 HERE and you could be in with a chance of winning one of them. The third winner is due to be picked tomorrow so get your skates on!
